Webinar #9: Techniques of coffee harvesting
On October 29, 2022, IWCA Vietnam continued to cooperate with partners in the network to organize the 9th webinar with the theme “Techniques of coffee harvesting”.
The webinar was successfully held and sharing a lot of practical knowledge which can be applied in this year’s crop.
During the event, Dr. Nguyen Van Thuong – Former Deputy Director of WASI Institute and Mr. Mai Xuan Thong – Technical Advisor of GCP Vietnam provided useful information on coffee harvesting techniques.
The two experts at the same time emphasized the benefits of picking ripe coffee berries as well as the issues surrounding green ones harvesting, thereby convincing coffee farmers and producers to participate in selective harvesting which help increases the percentage of ripe coffee berries and the quality of coffee.
In order to give the most comprehensive view, Ms. Luong Ngoc Tram – the founder of Pun Coffee also shared the difficulties often encountered in collecting ripe coffee berries in the farm.
The experts promptly exchanged, discussed as well as provided appropriate solutions for each difficulty.
In addition, during the workshop, Mr. Tran Minh Tri – Country Coordinator of Vision Zero Fund project, ILO gave notes on occupational safety and hygiene issues in coffee harvesting.
