In the coffee supply chain, women are the ones who face many challenges in accessing resources and encountering various risks in their labor. Understanding these challenges, on the occasion of Vietnamese Women’s Day, October 20th, IWCA Vietnam organized the “Make a Smile” fundraising campaign to honor the role of women in the coffee industry and initiated a fundraising campaign to support female coffee farmers in Son La.
Campaign Objectives:
Celebrating the beauty and contributions of women, particularly ethnic minority women involved in coffee cultivation.
Raising funds to support our female coffee farmers in Son La on the occasion of October 20th. The Organizing Committee commits to using 100% of the campaign’s profits to provide support and encouragement to the spirit of Son La’s female coffee farmers.
Creating a creative platform for coffee and art enthusiasts.
Encouraging the community to reuse coffee grounds for artistic creations, thus contributing to environmental protection.
“Make A Smile” campaign included 3 stages:
“Begining” stage: Collaborate and partner with 12 companion organizations to organize a painting competition “Make a Smile” using coffee grounds.
“Spreading” stage: IWCA Vietnam had organized an online voting competition for the 28 submitted paintings. Here, all interested individuals voted for their favorite paintings through likes, shares, and comments.
“Touch” stage: After the conclusion of the “Make a Smile” competition, IWCA Vietnam organized an art exhibition to showcase 28 outstanding artworks and called for support to raise funds for female coffee farmers in Son La province on occassion of Vietnamese Women’s Day, October 20th.
The exhibition took place on the morning of October 15th at Nhau Studio, aiming to introduce people about the creative art movement using recycled materials to convey environmental protection messages as well as to honor women in the coffee industry on Vietnamese Women’s Day, October 20th.
The “Flowers for your beloved woman” workshop was a collaborative gift from IWCA Vietnam and Nhau Studio. At the workshop, participants were guided by artist Thuy Anh on using watercolors and coffee to create charming paintings to present to the women they love on the occasion of October 20th.
