On June 16th, IWCA Vietnam organized a coffee cupping event titled ‘Enhancing Coffee Cupping Skills for Female Farmers in the IWCA Vietnam Network’ at the Dao Chieng Ban Cooperative in Mai Son District, Son La Province. This event was part of The Starbucks Foundation 2023 project, aimed at assisting farmers in enhancing their coffee quality evaluation skills, identifying strengths and weaknesses of their products, and ultimately improving product quality and increasing incomes.
During the cupping session, Mr. Ta Xuan Truong, Regional Director of Raw Materials and Wet Processing at Detech Coffee Joint Stock Company, provided guidance to 32 female farmers on professional coffee cupping protocols and addressed their inquiries regarding the coffee production process. This enabled the farmers to self-evaluate the quality of their coffee and plan effectively for the upcoming crop season. Additionally, the event served as a platform for the farmers to exchange experiences and learn from each other about coffee cultivation and production techniques.
