Joining IWCA Vietnam during the final months of her university, Bùi Nhật Hoa, a senior student at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, has brought with her the spirit of a young person who eager to experience, learn, and seek opportunities to contribute her own values to the community.

With a background in communications and marketing, Hoa has worked across a wide range of areas from developing communications content and supporting event operations, to conducting research and preparing funding-related materials, to joining field activities in Sơn La’s coffee-growing areas.

WHEN EACH JOURNEY BECOMES VALUABLE LESSONS

While her first days at the office helped Hoa gain a comprehensive understanding of how a social organization operates, her ground trips to Sơn La offered a completely different set of experiences.

There, knowledge and plans on paper were replaced by real stories from farmers, hands-on training sessions, conversations with partners, and the everyday rhythm of communities in the coffee-growing region.

“Every trip gives me a new perspective. There are things I can only truly understand when I set my foot in a place, meet people in person, and listen to their stories. That’s when I begin to understand the meaning behind the work I am doing,” Hoa shared.

THRIVING THROUGH EVERY OPPORTUNITY

Throughout her journey at IWCA Vietnam, what Hoa values most is the trust and opportunities she was given. During her two-month internship at IWCA Vietnam, having taken on different roles and challenge gave Hoa a thorough perspective on herself in new areas. Beyond professional skills, she gradually developed important working habits and qualities: attention to detail, proactiveness, observation, and analytical thinking when approaching each challenge.

“What I gained was more than just work experience. I learned how to step outside my comfort zone, be willing to try new things, and not be afraid of not knowing everything. Sometimes, simply being given the opportunity to do, experience, and learn from real situations is what helps us grow the fastest.”
